Symposium on "Networking and Technology Transfer"

Bangkok Symposium Was a Big Success

More than 150 people participated in the Symposium on "Networking and Technology Transfer" held by InWEnt, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research and Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute (QSMI) from June 7-12 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The participants were mainly alumni from Latin America and Southeast Asia who took part in the Biotechnology Courses by InWEnt and HZI during the last ten years (103 participants), but also alumni of the Biotech and Business program by InWEnt and representatives of their organizations.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the alumni activities in Latin America and Southeast Asia by elaborating an organizational structure for Networking. The program included workshops of how to build a sustainable network and about the essentials for "Technology Transfer", examples of how to set-up TT and the importance of Open Access. There were poster presentations with applied approach, awards for the best posters, and relaxing evening meetings, as well as scientific and cultural excursions.

During the conference the participants successfully formed » thematic and country groups. The thematic groups started to discuss action plans for the future which they now finalize using the » Global Campus 21 platform of InWEnt. The next possible step for the Networks will be to meet up for a workshop supported by InWEnt and HZI in Fall/Winter of this year.
